Mom's Streusel Filled Coffee CakeThis recipe developed by Jules at Inn on the Rio was featured in "Best from New Mexico" Cookbook and "Inn on the Rio's Favorite Recipes" Cookbook!
This recipe has been in my family for generations. I can't remember celebrating a holiday and not having "Mom's" Coffee Cake warm from the oven. My guests at the Inn love this recipe.
3-1/2 cups Flour
1 TB baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup shorting, such as Crisco
1 cup milk
1 TB vanilla
Filling + Topping
1 cup brown sugar
2 TB cinnamon
1/3 cup (one-third cup) flour
1/3 cup (one-third cup) melted butter
1 cup chopped nuts
mix above ingredients together with a fork
